Learn How to Make Your Yard a Certified Community Wildlife Habitat

Join the City to Celebrate Rockville’s Certification

Rockville, Maryland, March 16 – Last year, Rockville became the 88th National Wildlife Federation-certified Community Wildlife Habitat in the United States. Now, community members can help the city celebrate its certification and learn how they can make their yard a certified habitat that’s hospitable to wildlife.

Join the city as we celebrate and thank the 200 homeowners and 14 schools, businesses, places of worship and public recreation facilities that made this achievement possible. A free celebration will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 in the Mayor and Council Chambers at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave. Community members interested in learning more about certifying their own yards and how to support native birds, butterflies and other wildlife are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP at environment@rockvillemd.gov or 240-314-8870.

Community members can support wildlife and earn the certification by restoring habitats with native plants, eliminating pesticides and providing animals with food, water, cover and places to raise young.
