 The Rockville Civic Ballet consists of 75 adult and children dancers. Since 1974, the company has annually performed the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker.” The company also annually performs a spring and summer production.
The company’s repertoire includes fairytale ballets such as “Sleeping Beauty,” “Cinderella,” “Coppelia,” “Swan Lake” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and Shakespeare’s comedies or tragedies such as “As You Like It,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Othello.” Under the direction of Claudia Mangan, the company performs original works such as “Triangles,” “Saturday Night Social,” “Planets,” “Firebird” and “Piano Barre” during the spring and summer productions. Volunteers provide time and talent to construct costumes and scenery, work with the technical crew, assist the house manager as ushers and staff the bake and craft sale. Assigned seat tickets may be purchased online, in person, by phone or by mail order at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office.
