Flutter GateJim Gallucci "Flutter Gate" is a result from working on the 9/11 Sculpture Project. The archway (bent pipes) symbolizes the way events and legalities (the flutter of pages) control the way we must pass through life. |
ProgressDavid Hubbard "Progress" represents my interest in iconic shapes, like glyphs, which suggest a sort of language. The way in which the shapes are associated with each other tells a story. I have codified a number of such shapes over the years and use them in different combinations to tell different stories. The story of "Progress" is an upthrusting form which moves through space in context with a wave shape and the rising sun. I mean it to represent our movement through time. I hope we will go in the direction of sustainability and use our intelligence to progress and not move backward as some would have us do. We need to use our intelligence not our ideologies to make that happen. |
Solar WindHanna Jubran If a goal is sought either consciously or unconsciously in the form of a work of art, one must solve innumerable problems and make innumerable decisions in order to achieve that end. One of many decisions I have made is maintaining and preserving the natural quality of the materials I work with. My work addresses the concept of time, movement, balance and space. Each sculpture occupies and creates its own reality influenced by its immediate surroundings. |
Chaos 11Sam Noto The "Chaos" idea came out of a lecture series I gave concerning the Contemplative Garden. The role of the garden object is the focal point of visual rest within the garden space. This point is the logical place for the eyes to rest before resuming the visual dance with nature's chaos. The artist in me wondered what if the roles of nature and garden object were reversed? Chaos now becomes an idea within my creative realm. I find that my interpretation of chaos allows me to create a harmonious object, a possible oxymoron. This seemly conflictive notion continually gives me new areas to explore. |
1, 2, 3Bill Wood "1,2,3," simply is from each side: it is a row of one, a row of two, and a row of three. The idea behind making this piece was that I wanted to see if I could make a water feature with out water. |
Guitar LadyFloyd Roberts The piece is called "Guitar Lady." I was inspired by music and art; that is why I created this sculpture. It is a representation of the industry. |
