 Town Square Art Proposals
Your Comments are Invited

Many enjoy the public art that can be seen throughout the City of Rockville. When the new Rockville Town Square development opens in the heart of Rockville’s Town Center in late 2006, it too will be adorned with a variety of creative artwork that will embody the “who, what, where, when and why” of Rockville while celebrating the
overall feel of Rockville Town Square.

A total of 26 finalists selected from 345 nationwide applicants have presented their ideas for nine public art projects for Rockville Town Square. Those projects range from sculptures to temporary wall murals. The total budget of $474,000 is funded from the Town Square development project, the City’s Art in Public Places program and Art in Public Architecture project in the City’s Capital Improvements program.

The public is invited to send comments on the proposed art projects to the Rockville Mayor and Council who, after considering the formal recommendations from the City’s Cultural Arts Commission, will select the final pieces. Comments may be sent electronically using the online comment form with each project.
