Residential projects involve the construction or modification to single-family dwellings, including detached homes, townhouses, and duplexes. Multi-family structures, such as apartment buildings, are considered commercial structures and information for those projects can be found on the Commercial Projects page.

Residential projects typically include modifications to, or construction of new, single-family dwellings, and their related electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and / or residential fire sprinkler systems. Residential projects also encompass sheds, fences, swimming pools, solar electrical systems and decks.

Please Note: The City of Rockville requires work to be performed by qualified tradesman. A City Masters license is required for Plumbing, Gas and Electrical work.

The design and construction of all structures shall be in compliance with Chapter 5 of the Rockville City Code and the Maryland Fire Prevention Code.
