Employee basic life insurance coverage is equal to 1.5 times annual salary (rounded to the next even thousand). The City pays the premium for this benefit.
Employees also have the option of purchasing additional life insurance coverage in increments of $10,000 up to a maximum of five times their annual salary (to a maximum of $500,000. Employees may also elect coverage for their spouse and/or dependent children in increments of $5,000 for spouse (to a maximum of $100,000) and $2,500 for dependent children up to age 19 or 23 for full time students (to a maximum of $10,000).
