2009 Open Enrollment
In an effort to offer increased choices to meet the healthcare needs of our employees we are excited to introduce two new options, the CareFirst Blue Choice HMO Open Access Plan and the Kaiser Permanente Point of Service Plan. These plans are in addition to the CareFirst Blue Choice HMO and the Kaiser Permanente HMO that we offer now.
The CareFirst Blue Choice HMO Open Access Plan enables you to go directly to a network specialist of your choice without a referral from your primary care physician. This plan also offers lower co-payments for prescription drugs, primary care physicians and specialists.
The Kaiser Permanente – Point of Service Plan offers both in-plan and out-of-plan benefits.
In addition, we have replaced the DentaQuest DHMO with the DentaQuest Access ePPO Plan. The Access EPPO plan offers a wider network of participating dentists (2,200 dentists) than the formerly offered DHMO. According to the DentaQuest website, within a 5 mile radius of the 20850 zip code there are 58 participating dentists in the Access ePPO, compared to 14 under the formerly offered DHMO.
The new Access ePPO plan does not cover dental services provided by non-participating dentists. If you are presently enrolled in the DHMO, you will be automatically enrolled in the Access ePPO plan.
