Purpose: This project funds stabilization repairs to specific stream valley erosion problems identified in the Watts Branch Watershed Study. The work area is in Woottons Mill Park between James Spring Court and Paulsboro Drive along the main stem of Watts Branch. This project provides stabilization to approximately 1,600 linear feet of streambank. Since erosion is threatening the trunk sewer line and a retaining wall behind Paulsboro Drive, this project is deemed critical to protecting public safety and, therefore, is among the first of the projects scheduled for implementation. In addition, implementing this watershed improvement project supports Rockville's contribution to Maryland's voluntary C2K intiative, as well as supports mandatory compliance with NPDES and TMDL requirements.
