This vision is coming to fruition as the City works with residents to develop plans for the new Thomas Farm Community Center. Currently in the concept design phase, staff continue seeking input into what types of services and activities will be most appealing to the users of the future community center. The 18,000-square-foot building will be located on Fallsgrove Drive at the intersection of West Montgomery Avenue. Construction is expected to begin Spring 2007 and take one year to complete. The concept plan for the center calls for the building to include a gymnasium, two multi-purpose rooms, a fitness center, game room, locker rooms, a kitchenette, offices and storage space. Design Process In June 2005, there was a public meeting for residents to participate in the concept design process. The City also conducted an on-line survey during the summer in which more than 100 people responded to questions about types of programming, activities and ages the center should focus it programs toward. Another public meeting was held in October to review and comment on site plans and proposed building designs for the community center. Contacts |
