Open Climbing Nights 
For experienced climbers
December through February: 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays
March through November: 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays

Adults who wish to climb on Open Climbing Night, or bring children to climb, must know how to belay. Belaying instruction is not offered on Open Climbing Night unless you are being trained for a birthday party.

Bring your own equipment or use ours to scale the gym's 20-foot walls! Over a dozen different routes are set to test your abilities. Our professional, experienced instructors are on hand to guide you. Come experience this exciting sport—you'll be hooked! Experienced climbers only—all Open Gym climbers must pass a competency test. Cost: $10 per climber. Cash or check only.

Registration Information

Hours 
Your scheduled event reserves the entire climbing gym for your group. Groups are scheduled Saturday 1-3 p.m., 4-6 p.m., and Sunday 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Evening hours are available on a limited basis.

Scheduling
We recommend that you book your party 4-6 weeks in advance. To secure your reservation, a $75 deposit is required. The deposit is refundable less $15 administration fee up to 14 days prior to your party date.

Age Requirement
The indoor wall offers challenges for people of all ages and abilities - from beginners to even the most competent and skilled climbers. A group climbing event is ideal for ages 7 and older.

Belayer's Discount
We encourage parents, teachers, and leaders to join in on the experience by participating as belayers. Belayers secure the climber from the floor by controlling the rope.

Ongoing Classes
   
Child/Parent Class (ages 7-12)
7-9 pm, 2nd Monday of each month
Children will be taught the basics of climbing, while parents are taught to belay.  This course will provide necessary instruction to allow parents to bring their children to Open Climbing Nights.  All equipment is provided for the course.  Fees: $36/child residents, $40/child non-residents.

Adult Climbing Class (ages 18 & up)
7-9 pm, 4th Monday of each month
Adults will learn to properly put on a harness, tie into the rope and belay for a partner. You can then use our facilities without the aid of an instructor on our Tuesday Open Nights.  All equipment is provided.  Fees: $20/adult residents, $25/adult non-residents.

Birthday Parties & Group Adventures
Plan a party with us! Gather up a group of your friends for two hours of fun climbing our walls! Parents are encouraged to join in on the experience by participating as the belayers (see Belayer’s Discount).

Sign up your office or a group of friends for a climbing party. This is a great team building activity. Age doesn’t matter, just come and have fun!

Regular Party Party minimum of eight participants with a maximum of 15. Price includes a two-hour reservation, basic instruction, climbing, and all equipment needed to climb. A $25 discount will be given if belayers are supplied. Resident status applies to person booking party. $150 for 8 participants/resident $200 for 8 participants/non-resident $20 for each additional participant Non-Profit Party Party minimum of eight participants with a maximum of 15. Directions to the Rockville Climbing Gym
From I-270 & Route 28: Take Exit 6/Montgomery Avenue off of I-270. Proceed east on Route 28, cross Route 355 and follow Route 28 east (turns left at first light beyond Route 355). Travel four blocks to Baltimore Road, turn right, go three blocks to Edmonston Drive, turn left and Civic Center Park entrance is immediately on your right. Once inside the park, pass the mansion and continue downhill. Park in the parking lot on the left side of road halfway down the hill. Entrance to the climbing gym is through the door facing the driveway on the side of the Recreation Facilities Building.
