Activities are held at Croydon Creek Nature Center, 240-314-8770. Registration is required. There are no registration deadlines unless otherwise noted and you may register for programs up until the day of the event. Programs may be conducted indoors or outside. Please remember to dress for the weather.  Note: For children’s programs, only participating children are charged the fee. For programs that are for All Ages, the fee is per person, including adults.

Croydon Creek Campfire

Gather around the campfire at Croydon Creek Nature Center for stories, snacks and more. All participants must register in advance. All ages welcome.

Slimy Salamanders

There are about 500 species of salamanders worldwide. Join us at the Nature Center to learn more about some salamander species that call Maryland home through a storiy, hands-on activity and a craft.

Toad Abodes

Toads are natural pest control agents. A single toad can eat hundreds of unwanted insects in your garden every year. Come to the Nature Center and make a terra cotta home for your amphibious friends.

Co-sponsored by the Nature Center and the Friends of Rock Creek’s Environment (FORCE). This lecture series
offers easy ways you can make a positive impact on your environment.

Rainbarrels
Learn how to construct and maintain a rain barrel for your home. Participants will have the chance to win a rain barrel after the lecture.

Junior Naturalist Club

Interested in exploring the natural world? Join the Junior Naturalists Club at Croydon Creek! Each month we will investigate new topics and learn the skills to become true naturalists. Participants who complete all nine courses will earn an official Junior Naturalist T-shirt. Dress for the weather, as time will be spent outdoors.
Age: 10-14

Mini Bio-blitz
A bio-blitz is a detailed inventory of living organisms in a specified area. We will do a count of the plants and animals on a designated sample plot and discuss the results to compare them to the results collected last fall.
