So, you want to construct a building, add an addition, install a driveway or driveway apron, or grade your property (contour the land) in Rockville. What forms and documents do you need?  Below are some typical project types along with the necessary Department of Public Works paperwork to help get you started. In each case you should also contact the following departments for their respective requirements:

• Department of Community Planning and Development Services (Planning Division and Inspection Services Division)
• Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (Community Enhancement and Code Enforcement Division)
• Department of Recreation and Parks, Parks and Facilities Division (for Forestry Requirements)

If you are building a new house, you need the following.

• Single Family Home and Site Development Plan Checklists

 If you want to construct multiple single family houses, you need the following.

• Appropriate Public Works Checklists
• Public Works Permit Application
• Sediment Control Permit Application
• Stormwater Management Concept Plan Application (electronic form not yet available)
• Stormwater Management Permit Application
• Form for financial security (choice of either Letter of Credit or Performance Bond)
• Flood Plain Variance Application (if work lies within the 100-year flood plain)
• Policy documents relevant to the development project
• As-Built Plan Requirements
• As-Built / Record Drawing Plan Review Checklist (electronic form not yet available)
• Record Plat Review Checklist
• Public Works Fees sheet

If you are adding an addition to an existing single family home, you need the following.

• Water House Connection Upgrade Policy (electronic form not yet available). Also, check with the Inspection Services Division (ISD) of the Department of Community Planning and Development Services to determine if water service to the house requires upgrading.
• If the addition and related impervious area is more than 2000 square feet, stormwater management is required.

• If the addition and related impervious area is less than 2000 square feet, no stormwater management is required.

If you are constructing a new non-residential building or an addition to an existing non-residential building, you need the following.
