Effective January 1, 2012, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development updated the Maryland Building Performance Standards to adopt the 2012 International Code Council codes. Local jurisdictions are expected to begin enforcing these codes July 1, 2012. To read a copy of the proposed changes to the code, refer to the ordinance introduced to the Mayor and Council April 16. The schedule for the introduction and adoption of the 2012 Chapter 5 amendments is as follows:

The following administrative interpretations are available to provide commentary on the intent of specific code sections.
