Effective January 1, 2012, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development updated the Maryland Building Performance Standards to adopt the 2012 International Code Council codes. Local jurisdictions are expected to begin enforcing these codes July 1, 2012. To read a copy of the proposed changes to the code, refer to the ordinance introduced to the Mayor and Council April 16.
The schedule for the introduction and adoption of the 2012 Chapter 5 amendments is as follows:

These building codes apply to all new construction and certain major renovations, of both commercial and residential buildings.
The adopted code is available below. Copies are available for review at the Inspection Services Counter at City Hall, 111 Maryland Avenue.
