The City of Rockville honors the nation’s flag every year with a Flag Day ceremony in Rockville Town Square. The event includes a children's craft activity, musical entertainment and a ceremony with the Mayor and Council and other distinguished guests.

Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the official United States flag in 1777 and was celebrated by communities across the country beginning in the late 1800s. In 1949 President Harry S. Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14 as National Flag Day.
