Chairperson John Moser called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. in the Black-Eyed Susan Room at Rockville City Hall.

Re: Approval of the Minutes

The Minutes of the January 9 CAC meeting were unanimously approved. Note: The February 13 meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Re: Chairperson’s Report

John Moser reported on the following items.

Meeting with Chris Henry and Michael McBride, a WAMTA representative, regarding the potential Park Road Underpass art project.
Meeting with Betsy Thompson regarding the potential LED lighting for the I-270 Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge.
Meeting with Burt Hall regarding hiring a consultant for to develop a long-range plan for making Rockville an Arts and Sports destination.
Attended the PROS Plan meeting for visual, performing and literary arts stakeholders on February 20 at Rockville City Hall.

Re: Staff Report

Betty Wisda distributed copies of the Staff Report and the Rockville Town Square Art Projects Report.

Re: Task Force/Committee Updates

Art in Public Places
George Northway, Chairperson-. He reported that an AIPP meeting has been scheduled at
7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 at Rockville City Hall.

Special Events/Sampler
Carole Butler, Chairperson- She reported that a Special Events/Sampler meeting has been scheduled at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9 at Rockville City Hall.

Private Sector Art (inactive)
Chairperson George Northway, no report. Upon receipt of the Annual Report from Chris Henry, Betty Wisda will distribute the report to the commissioners.

Outreach
Rose Garvin Aquilino, Chairperson- No report

Rockville Town Center
John Moser, Chairperson- No report.

Arts Facilities
Jerry Callistein, Chairperson- He reported that an Arts Facilities meeting is scheduled at
7 p.m. on Monday, April 14 at Rockville City Hall.

Re: Old Business

None

Re: New Business

Betty Wisda distributed hard copies of the Report on Public Art Contracts; Nationally-Recognized Public Art Programs; Comparison of Key Elements in Art Contracts; and Contract with William Cochran Public Art in Town Center-Project #3. Betty Wisda sent an email with attachment containing these items to the AIPP committee on March 11. George Northway and John Moser suggested that staff obtain contracts from local jurisdiction; such as, City of Baltimore, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, City of Frederick, City of Gaithersburg, and City of Annapolis. Based on the commissioners’ work and personal commitments, the commissioners agreed to begin the review of the report, staff recommendations and develop their recommendations in June.

The next meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9 in the Black-Eyed Susan Room at Rockville City Hall.
