Environment Commission

Sustainable Development & Energy Committee

It is impossible to overstate the role of energy in the modern world - it is ubiquitous in our daily lives, with issues ranging in scope from the global geopolitical debate of energy independence and climate change down to replacing a single incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL).  To address the myriad issues revolving around energy, the Environment Commission formed a committee to develop guidelines and recommendations to the Mayor and Council on policies such as energy efficiency, climate protection, green buildings and renewable energy

About the Sustainable Development & Energy Committee
The Sustainable Development & Energy Committee (SDEC) is a sub-group of the full Environment Commission.  Unlike the Commission, which consists of nine Rockville residents appointed by the Mayor & Council for three-year terms, the SDEC is a volunteer group and is open to anyone who lives or works within Rockville and is in interested in helping to promote sound energy and climate policy in Rockville.  The group is lead by two Commissioners - Seth Adams and Tolu Odunlami.  To learn more about the SDEC, or if you are interested in attending a meeting, please contact the staff liaison at (240) 314-8872 or EShingara@rockvillemd.gov.

Sustainable Development & Energy Committee Meetings
Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month starting at 7pm (exceptions are noted with a ** below).  Meetings are typically held at the Environmental Management Division's offices at 30 Courthouse Square, Suite 100; however, meetings may be held at one of several conference rooms at City Hall (111 Maryland Ave.) - check individual meeting agenda for the exact location.
