I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

  • January 16, 2002 (Meeting No. 01-2003)

II. W. LAWSON KING FARMSTEAD RECOMMENDATIONS

The King Farm Task Force has delivered its recommendations to the Mayor and Council. It proposes a number of reuses for the existing buildings and demolition of several structures. The Historic District Commission will review these recommendations and structures and receive testimony and comments from interested parties. A recommendation to the City of Rockville Mayor and Council may be rendered at this meeting or the record may be held open for a specified period of time to allow for further comments.

III. DISCUSSION / UPDATES

A. Dawson Farm specifications for granary interpretation/picnic shelter
B. MHT CLG grant application, application due January 31, 2003
C. Update on designations in progress:
  1. Carver High School and Jr. College: Expanded setting adopted January 27, 2003
  2. Rose Hill Barn: Expanded setting adopted January 27, 2003.
  3. 22 Martin’s Lane: Ordinance to grant map amendment adopted on January 27, 2003.
  4. 110 South Adams Street: Introduce ordinance to grant on February 10, 2003.
  5. 709 Grandin Avenue: Authorization to file on February 3, 2003.
  6. 315 Great Falls Road: Authorization to file on February 3, 2003
  7. 522 West Montgomery Avenue (Buckingham): On hold for plat recordation.

D. Nominations, Awards, Recognition:

  1. Peerless Rockville and Montgomery Preservation nominations
  2. School poster contest for National Preservation Week
  3. Reception with Peerless Rockville for National Preservation Week to recognize new historic properties- work out details.

E. Planning Activities and Projects:

  1. Rockville Cemetery design guidelines progress update: Anne Brockett
  2. East Rockville Master Plan Preservation Chapter progress update: Robin Ziek
  3. Lincoln Park Master Plan Preservation Chapter progress update: Judy Christensen
  4. Chestnut Lodge/Rose Hill design guidelines progress update: Cindy Kebba

The HDC adjourns at 10:00 PM unless extended by the Chair.

Telephone calls and meetings with Commission members in advance of the meeting are not permitted. Written communication will be directed to appropriate staff members for response and included in briefing materials for all members of the Commission.
