Task Force Attendees

Minutes

Major changes to the White-Tailed Deer Management Plan and task force were discussed and updated as follows.

White-Tailed Deer Task Force (WTDTF)
Replace the City's WTDTF with the Montgomery County Deer Management Work Group (MCDMWG). The MCDMWG includes professionals from the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC), Maryland Department of Natural Resources Heritage and Wildlife Service, Montgomery County Cooperative Extension Service, Montgomery County Police, USGS Biological Services, Patuxent Wildlife Research Station, National Park Service and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.

Lethal Measures
Added noted details regarding individual measures of lethal control.  The task force preferred method is firearms over archery.

Reproductive Measures
Included more information regarding sterilization measures (GonaCon™). Changed "reproductive measures" to "fertility control".

Additional Fence Height
Removed recommendation #4 that allowed for additional fence height from 8 to 10 feet.  The task force did not feel this was a necessary recommendation.  Some resident's comments also addressed this as unnecessary.

Annual Report and Recommendations
Updated content to be similar to the MNCPPC process for review of Annual Report and Yearly Recommendations.

Resources
Added a resource section for cited or reviewed data to the end of the management plan.

Procedures for Decision Making
Reorganized section and removed the bubble diagram.  Decision making process would now go through MCDMWG.

CONSENSUS

Christine Davidson McCord asked for a general consensus on all editing.  All members were in agreement that the edits would be a final draft to be presented to the Mayor and Council at the December 12 Mayor and Council Meeting.
