Minutes

 

Present: Terry Baker, Chip Boylan, Larry Eason, Helen Heneghan, Melissa Moore, Kate Savage, Bob Taylor

Members Absent: Eric Heckman, Ben Solomon

Citizens Present: None

Staff Present: Phil Bryan, Michelle Bean, Susan Nolde, and Mark Kibiloski

Re: Approval of Minutes

The minutes were approved as presented.

Re: Citizens Forum

None

Re: Parks Tour

Phil Bryan, Superintendent of Recreation, Susan Nolde, City Forester and Mark Kibiloski, Parks and Facilities Administration Supervisor lead a tour for the Board of the following areas:  Dawson Farm Park, Upper Watts Branch and Tweed Park.

Re: Subcommittee Reports

Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee –None

Environmental Issues - None

Fallsgrove & King Farm – None

Glenview Mansion – The long range planning group for the Mansion subcommittee is going to meet at a later to date to discuss opening up the long range plan to the public.

Lincoln Park Community Center - None.

RedGate - None.

Swim Center – Sprayground under construction and should be available with the next week or two for use.  Kate Savage inquired about the reason/policy for not being able to exit the pool through indoor exit if you came in through outdoor entrance.  She felt it was confusing

TCRC – None.

Town Center Park – None.

Youth Sports - None.

Re: Old Business/New Business

Phil Bryan reminded the Board about the upcoming Recreation and Park Foundation meeting scheduled for July 9th from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Cottage.  Please RSVP to Chris Heckhaus if you plan to attend.

Chip Boylan, Kate Savage and Larry Eason represented the Board at the Memorial Day parade and selected the R&P Advisory Board winner on behalf of the Board.  Bob Taylor mentioned that the waiting of lines for tickets, food and kids activities were extremely long and hopes that we work to fix this for next year.

Re: Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.  The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 22 at 7 p.m. at the Rockville Municipal Swim Center.
