STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Jill Hall The minutes from the January 18, 2005 meeting were accepted with revisions. TREASURER'S REPORT: A report for the month of January was presented. Copies will be forwarded to the city's Mayor and Council. STANDING COMMITTEES: A. Budget: No report. B. Ways & Means: Betty B. will begin working on the Spring Bazaar Yard Sale soon. She will ask Paula Carver if she would handle the crafters. Jill gave Betty B. names of people to contact regarding baskets for the raffle. The Piecemakers will be donating a small quilt to the raffle. Betty H. made a motion to approve $200.00 for a first prize and $100.00 for a second prize. Betty B. seconded the motion. Motion carried. Jill will have 1,500 tickets printed by the Graphics Department. There will be a Health Fair rental on May 7 and we could sell tickets and food. C. Bingo: Ron has a volunteer who will schedule volunteers for Bingo. D. Correspondence/Memorial: Louise sent a thank you note to Mike Critzer. We received $850.00 in donations that were not designated. E. Gift /Thrift Shop: No report. F. Publicity: No report. G. Senior Citizens Commission: Six of the nine commissioners attended the USM rally in Annapolis. There was a work session with the mayor and council on February 7 regarding affordable senior housing. On February 17 there will be a meeting regarding reverse mortgages. H. Hispanic Services Report: No report. I. Asian Services Report: No report.
OLD BUSINESS: There were five checks mailed out from the lobby that were not received by the vendor. The checks were reissued and Betty H. mailed them at the Post Office. Claire Funkhouser let the board know that the Mayor has the letter requesting appointment of Sofia Stoll. Appointments are made once a month and the next date is March 2, 2005. Stuart Barth from Bank of America spoke with the board regarding investments. Louise made a motion to put a plaque on the Bocce Ball Court buildings indicating they were built in memory of Estelle Berberian. NEW BUSINESS: We received a letter from the Young In Heart Club questioning how the $1,000.00 that was donated for the kitchen renovation was used. If it had not been used yet they have requested that it be used for new shelves in the kitchen. Louise and Jill will check our records and see how it was spent and Ron will reply back to them. STAFF REPORT: On March 22 at 1:00 p.m. there will be a meeting with the City Manager, Recreation Department staff, RSI board members and Senior Commission members to discuss the long term delivery of Senior Services through 2020. A reminder to attend the meeting on February 16 at 7:00 p.m. regarding the Senior Center entrance. Bids are being solicited to repair the front doors. Peter Kach has made a suggestion that we sell annuals at the Spring Bazaar and Yard Sale. Louise made a motion to provide a basket for MASC 25TH Anniversary silent auction. Mary B. seconded the motion. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 15, 2005. |
