STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Jill Hall The minutes from the January 20, 2004 meeting were accepted. TREASURER'S REPORT: A report for the month of January 2004 was presented. Copies will be forwarded to the city's Mayor and Council. STANDING COMMITTEES: A. Budget: No report. B. Ways & Means: We need a chair for this committee and more volunteers. We will have 5 baskets for the raffle and are requesting that the Hispanic Services and Asian Services members prepare two of the baskets. George Galasso volunteered to do an Italian basket. We can have the food in the Dining Room since the kitchen may not be available because of the renovation. We can borrow a grill and tent from the City to cook hot dogs and baked beans. C. Bing We need more volunteers. The jackpot has not gone yet. D. Correspondence/Memorial: A thank you note was sent to Bob Hughes for redoing the sound equipment. E. OLD BUSINESS: Louise G. made a motion to make a change to the criteria for the Estelle Berberian Award (remove member only clause). Mary B. seconded the motion. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS: The Senior Center softball team will have a pizza party tomorrow and all of the board members are invited to attend. STAFF REPORT: The Dining Room renovation started today and will take several months. We have received $6,940.00 toward the Dining Room furniture – we’re 1/3 of the way toward our goal. The proposed FY05 budget for the Maryland Governors office will reduce Senior Center operating grants to the Department of Aging. It is currently only $500,000.00 and could be reduced to $400,000.00. The senior population is growing so this is a poor time to reduce funding. Please see Jill if you would like more information. The baseboard in the hallways has been removed. The wallpaper will be repaired and the baseboards will be replaced with 6” boards. There has been no action on the Wade Ave. property. We are trying to identify potential realtors. A letter was sent to Fannie Mae regarding matching Gene Kline $100.00 donation to the Senior Center and advising them that we have received reinstatement of our 501c3 status. The meeting was adjourned at 2:39 p.m. The next meeting is on March 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. |
