April 18
, 2006

The meeting of the Rockville Seniors Inc. was held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the Rockville Senior Center.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ron Barber at 1:00 p.m. followed by a moment of silent prayer.

Ron Barber
Louise Gregory

Betty Briscoe

Teresa Harn

STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Jill Hall

GUESTS: Steve Chappell and Jonathon Triandifilou

Steve Chappell discussed the upcoming financial seminar he is hosting at the Senior Center on May 17th at 1:00 p.m. The Board agreed to create and post flyers around the building and at Supper Club and Bingo. They also agreed to try and promote it. In the packet of information to be handed out at the seminar Steve will put in estate planning information and information about our Living Legacy Campaign. An attorney will also be part of the presentation. Based on feedback and attendance he and the Board will discuss what future efforts should be. The goal is to offer this frequently.

Steve then updated the Board on their investment portfolio. There is 70% in bonds and 30% in stocks and has had a rate of return of 6.5%. There has been a low appreciation value since bonds have been down and stocks have been up and the majority of the funds are in bonds.

Steve then reported on the activities he has undertaken to try and line up a marketing breakfast/lunch with CPAs and Estate Attorneys. He has found they are not interested in coming to a breakfast/lunch – they would rather he visit them. But they wanted him to wait until after tax season. He has found 1 contact so far that may be interested. In June-September he will try to offer some type of continuing education seminar to get participants. The goal is to have them be an advocate for the Living Legacy Campaign to their clients.

The minutes from March 21, 2006 were presented. George made a motion to accept the minutes after a revision to the bottom of page 2 was added.  Mary seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
