There is no minimum amount of funds you can donate to the endowment fund but it is more for gifts of stock, appreciated property, life insurance, etc. Ron will contact Andrew Begosh about getting maximum interest for the endowment fund and will invite him to the next board meeting. Ron was also asked to write up his meeting notes that he had with bank regarding the endowment fund so that the Board has the information for the future. B. OLD BUSINESS: Discussion of See’s candy sales was revisited after profits were questioned. Marty was asked to speak with Lorraine Schack about having Senior Commission sell the candy and RSI would front the money for the purchase. George made a motion to fund the purchase of See’s candy up to $900 with the profit going to the Senior Assistance Fund conditional that Lorraine employ manpower and that from the money gleaned from this RSI gets $900 back. Juan seconded the motion. Motion carried. This changes the motion made on September 21. We need to not have so many small meetings outside of the monthly board meeting. Too many items are being discussed without the input of all of the board members. All RSI business should be discussed at the monthly meeting so that everything can be included in the minutes. The new light will be installed soon – you can see the markings in the circle. The cancellation of the flu clinic was discussed. George feels that the senior center staff responsible for setting up the clinic should be calling the CDC directly to set up another clinic. He was referred to Mary Fleisher. NEW BUSINESS: No new business. STAFF REPORT: Our holiday cards thanking volunteers for their time will be coming soon. If anyone is interested in looking at the draft for the new senior center brochure please see Jill. The Thrift Shop has requested a new chair using money from their budget. We are moving forward toward getting a snack bar in the Dining Room. It will be open for breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will be staffed by Vicky Smith. Profits from this will go to RSI. The meeting was adjourned at 2:50 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for November 16, 2004. |
