The City is seeking applicants for appointment to the following:
• | Board of Appeals (one) This board is comprised of three members and one alternate, who are charged with the responsibility of hearing and deciding all administrative appeals and applications for variances and special exceptions, as provided for in the Zoning Ordinance or other ordinances of the City of Rockville. Members elect their own chairperson and serve for overlapping three-year terms. |

• | Historic District Commission (one) The Historic District Commission was created by the Mayor and Council in 1966 for the purpose of recommending the boundaries of districts that are deemed to be of historic or architectural value to the city of Rockville and with reviewing applications for construction or exterior alterations in the historic districts. |
• | Human Services Advisory Commission (one) This Commission provides advice and guidance to the Mayor and Council on human service needs in Rockville and how best to address them. Members serve over-lapping three-year terms. |
• | Human Rights Commission (one) The Human Rights Commission (HRC) is an 11-member group of volunteers, appointed by the Mayor and Council, to ensure equal treatment, free from discrimination for people who live, visit or work in the City of Rockville. The HRC is charged with minimizing the effects of conflict and promoting appreciation of diversity within the City. To meet these goals, the commission provides a variety of programs and services.

• | Landlord Tenant Affairs Commission (one) The Commission on Landlord-Tenant Affairs consist of seven (7) members who reside within the City, or the case of landlords and operators, who own or operate rental facilities within the City. Two (2) of the members shall be landlords or operators of rental facilities selected from nominations made by organizations representing landlords. Two (2) of the members shall be tenants whose livelihoods does not derive in whole or in significant part from the ownership and/or management of rental property, selected from nominations made by organizations representing tenants. Three (3) members shall be selected from the public at large or from persons who are neither tenants nor landlords nor whose livelihood is derived in whole or in significant part from the ownership and/or management of rental property. Prior to selected representatives of landlords and tenants, recommendations for members shall be requested from all organizations within the City representing either landlords or tenants. If no nominations are received within a time limit specified by the Mayor, appointments may be made without nominations.

• | Planning Commission (one) The Planning Commission is a seven-member body charged with formulating a Master Plan for the City of Rockville and revising the plan when necessary. The commission also reviews and makes recommendations to the Mayor and Council on all applications for map and text amendments; reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Appeals on all project plans and special exception applications; reviews and decides applications for site plans; reviews and approves all subdivision plans; and initiates and conducts such other planning studies and functions as are necessary in the overall planning operation of the City. Terms of members are overlapping and run for five years. The body elects its own chair.
