Long Range Planning and Implementation

The City’s Long Range Planning and Implementation Division works with residents and businesses to develop plans that make Rockville’s neighborhoods and commercial areas great places to live and work.

The division prepares and coordinates implementation of the City Master Plan, 18 distinct neighborhood and sector plans, and other special plans under the direction of the Rockville Planning Commission and the Mayor and Council. These plans are based on citizen-identified goals and Mayor and Council priorities, and must also comply with State planning requirements.

The Long Range Planning and Implementation Division also serves as a source for strategic data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, and generates forecasts on employment and population that serve City, county, state and regional planning needs.

Find Your Planning Area
The City of Rockville is divided into 18 Planning Areas. Every property is in one of these areas.  To find yours, go to the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS). If you are unable to find your planning area, call Community Planning and Development Services at 240-314-8200.
