Historic Rockville
Lincoln Park Community Preservation Project

Historic Lincoln Park Community Preservation
Lincoln Park is one of the great traditional neighborhoods that serve as a significant link to Rockville’s past. Now, the City and the current residents of Lincoln Park are working on a plan that will set the path for the neighborhood’s future.

Lincoln Park’s community includes the family histories of an African-American community that existed during segregation. The community continues to thrive today, but the growth of Rockville overall surrounds Lincoln Park. It is important that the neighborhood have a long-term plan that allows the community to fit in with the adjacent growth, while also preserving its layout, appearance and character. Goals include protecting the most significance historic structures, providing for compatible new homes and rehabilitation of older homes.

The Lincoln Park Community Preservation Committee was formed to provide input, review options, and recommend a preferred preservation strategy for Lincoln Park.  Its first meeting was on August 10, 2004. It will continue to meet monthly through spring 2005.

All citizens are welcome to attend meetings. Comments may be sent to history@rockvillemd.gov.
