Meet the Staff
Nia Smith, Acting Teen Programs Supervisor
Nia Smith has worked with the City of Rockville since 2004. She is a graduate of Rockville High School and earned an associate degree from Montgomery College. She is currently attending UMBC Shady Grove, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work. Nia enjoys dancing, shopping, laughing, interacting with youth and teens and spending time with her two young sons.

Kevon Calhoun, Teen Programs Leader
Kevon does a little bit of everything for the Teen Programs. He is a program leader and works in the following programs Rockville Leadership Academy, Teens on the Go, School’s Out and Don’t forget about August, to name a few. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration, specialization in Sports Management. Kevon enjoys playing football, basketball (he plays semi-professional basketball), and working out. In the future, he plans on playing professional sports or continuing as an employee with MCPS as a para-educator supporting kids with special needs.

Tavares Cooper, Teen Programs Director
Tavares Cooper is currently the Director of the Rockville Leadership Academy and will be Co-Directing the Teens on the Go Program again this summer. Tavares earned a bachelor’s degree in human services and child development from Pfeiffer University. Tavares also works at his alma mater, Richard Montgomery High School, as a para-educator. He is a proud father of a young son and when not working with the City, he mentors at-risk youth. Tavares enjoys all sports and plays semi-pro basketball.

Jordan Perry, Teen Programs Leader
Jordan currently works special events and summer programs. He is a graduate of Richard Montgomery High school and is studying accounting at the University of Maryland College Park. Jordan is creative, hard working and loves working and planning activities for kids. He will always have a summer job with the Teen Programs if he wants it.

Norita Prather, CDL Bus Driver
Norita currently works for Teens on an as needed basis as a bus driver, but during the summer she is our full-time driver getting the kids (and staff) in all of summer programs around safely. She is currently virtually-attending the University of Phoenix, majoring in Human Services. She is scheduled to graduate with a Bachelors of Science this fall. She then plans on applying to University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Masters of Social Work program in hopes of eventually becoming a licensed clinical social worker. Norita’s interests include being out-&-about with her children and spending time with family and friends.

Melissa Walters, Teen Programs Leader
Melissa Walters is helps to lead the Teens on the Go participants each summer. She is a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School. She is recently earned her associates degree in criminal justice from Montgomery College. Up next for Melissa is going to Coppin State University to earn her BS degree. Melissa enjoys shopping, spending time with her family and friends and being a role model to her younger sister.

Anthony Williams, Teen Programs Director & Certified Fitness Trainer               
Anthony currently works as a program sub and Co-Director of the Teens on the Go program in the summer. He works as a para-educator with Special Education department with MCPS and he is also a certified personal trainer who teaches many of our fitness classes and programs for youth. He currently plays semi-professional basketball & he played professional basketball in Germany. Other than basketball he also enjoys to work out, training/teaching others how to be healthy and reach their fitness goals and spending time with his family. He is the father of two little ones.
