Rockville Connect
Bikeshare
Through a partnership with Montgomery County, the City of Rockville, the Maryland Department of Transportation, and the Federal Transit Administration, bikesharing is in Rockville!

Bikeshare Rockville

Rockville is part of the expansion of Capital Bikeshare into various urban centers of Montgomery County. A total of 21 stations are in the Rockville/Shady Grove/Life Sciences Center area, 13 of which are within the city limits of Rockville.

Free Memberships

The introduction of bikesharing to Rockville is funded in part by a grant to extend commuting options to lower income workers commuting to work, school or job training. Lower income people can apply to receive a free membership if one end of your trip to work or job training is in the Rockville/Shady Grove/Life Sciences Center area. For more information on how to qualify for this program, contact Montgomery County's Commuter Services at or at (240) 777-8380.

Find more information on Montgomery County's Bikeshare page at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/bikeshare.

For terms and membership information, visit the Capital Bikeshare website at www.capitalbikeshare.com.

The bikes

Bikeshare bike
    • Always wear a helmet. Capital Bikeshare branded helmets are available for purchase when purchasing a membership online.
    • Each bike is equipped with a basket for your belongings and front and rear lights that are powered by pedaling.

Returning bikes

Bikeshare dock
    • Return the bike to any bikeshare station with an open dock. Wait for the green light to illuminate before walking away from the bike.
    • If you have a smart phone, the free Spotcycle app is helpful for finding nearby stations and open docks.
    • If you come to a station and there are no open docks to return a bicycle, go to the touch screen kiosk and request additional time. Use the map at the station to find the next nearest station.
    • If anything is wrong with a bike, press the red button on the dock when you return the bike, or call Capital Bikeshare at 1-877-430-BIKE (2453).
