Rain Barrels
What is a Rain Barrel?Rainbarrel_thumb.jpg
A rain barrel is a system that collects and stores rain water from your roof that would otherwise be lost to runoff and diverted to storm drains, your local streams and the Chesapeake Bay. Collected water can be used for watering gardens, irrigating lawns or washing cars.

Rain Barrel Rebate
The City of Rockville provides rebates to Rockville homeowners, homeowners associations, condominium associations and non-profits for installing rain barrels, and other practices, on their property. Eligible properties are offered a financial rebate of $1 per gallon, with a minimum volume of 55 gallons. The maximum available rebate per property is $500 (500 gallons). To receive a rebate you must retain and submit itemized receipts and/or final invoices for all project costs. The rebate amount cannot exceed documented costs. If you are unsure whether you are a City of Rockville resident, visit the address and residency check webpage.
