Landscaping with specific goals of reducing pollution and improving the local environment.

Conservation Landscaping Rebate
The City of Rockville provides rebates to single family residences, homeowners associations, condominium associations and non-profits for replacing turf grass with native plants, and other practices. Eligible properties are offered a financial rebate of $1 per square foot (without soil improvement) or $2 per square foot (with soil improvement), with a minimum volume of 250 square feet. The maximum available rebate per property is $1,200. To receive a rebate you must retain and submit itemized receipts and/or final invoices for all project costs. The rebate amount cannot exceed documented costs. If you are unsure whether you are a City of Rockville resident, visit the address and residency check webpage.

For details and to apply, fill out the Conservation Landscaping Online Application. You can also print and mail in a paper application.

Rain Gardens
The City currently does not offer a specific rebate option for rain gardens. However, eligible native plantings used in rain gardens may be rebated under the Conservation Landscaping Rebate. Please visit Montgomery County's Rain Garden webpage for details and resources on proper construction and maintenance. We also recommend seeking guidance from a landscape professional to determine if your site is appropriate for a rain garden.
