Tree Canopy
Why Plant Trees?

Trees catch rainwater and slow runoff, which cleans the water and reduces the risk of flood. Trees help prevent erosion along stream banks and allow more water to soak into the ground to replenish groundwater.

Tree Canopy Rebate

The City of Rockville provides rebates to single family residences, homeowners associations, condominium associations and non-profits for planting native trees and other practices. Eligible properties are offered a financial rebate of $150 per tree, with a maximum rebate per property of $600. To receive a rebate you must retain and submit itemized receipts and/or final invoices for all project costs. The rebate amount cannot exceed documented costs. If you are unsure whether you are a City of Rockville resident, visit the address and residency check webpage.

For details and to apply fill out the
Tree Canopy Online Application. You can also print and mail in a paper application. Also, please be sure to review our Approved Tree Species List and City of Rockville Species Restrictions.
