City Academy
Rockville City Academy is a highly interactive and life-enriching six-session course that provides opportunities for Rockville residents to learn from those who lead city departments about how the City of Rockville operates. Community members will have the opportunity to learn from highly qualified professionals about their roles in the city and how to become a leader in the community through staff briefings and tours. The program will answer questions about city government and help community members develop skills necessary to get involved in their community. Register to discover why this is the best city to Live in Maryland.

Everyone wants to be part of a healthy, functioning community. Rockville City Academy works toward this goal by:
  • Creating resident awareness of, and access to, community resources.
  • Demystifying local government.
  • Humanizing public service.
  • Providing networking opportunities among residents, neighborhoods and city officials and staff.
  • Cultivating new civic leaders.

How Individuals Benefit

  • Equips them to create positive changes in their communities, with a greater understanding of the unique forces that make up the city.
  • Allows them to examine their understanding of the city, its values and the tools available to them.
  • Builds trust, rapport and networks among people with different views and gives opportunities to network with city staff and officials.
  • Develops close and lasting friendships between leaders in the community.
