Heritage Area Management Plan

News and Updates

The Maryland Heritage Areas Authority Board voted on 4-18-2013 to approve the City of Rockville's Amendment to the Montgomery County Heritage Area Management Plan. With this step, the City is officially part of the State's Heritage Areas program.

As the Amendment was adopted by the Mayor and Council and approved by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, the City is now able to participate in this state economic development program as a "heritage enterprise zone." Benefits include eligibility for grants and loan assistance for acquisition, development, public interpretation, and programming, as well as tax incentives for the rehabilitation of non-designated historic buildings and non-historic buildings in active tourism use.

If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Robin Ziek, project manager, at 240-314-8230, or by e-mail at history@rockvillemd.gov
