East Rockville Neighborhood Plan

The Neighborhood

East Rockville is a residential neighborhood located in the northeastern section of Rockville. The neighborhood is bounded by the Rockville Metro Station and the Stonestreet Avenue corridor on the west, Veirs Mill Road on the south, First Street on the east, and the Lincoln Park neighborhood and Southlawn industrial area on the north. The community consists primarily of single-family homes and includes two small commercial centers, three parks and a forest preserve. Historic homes dating from the late 1800s line Baltimore Road, but the majority of houses were built beginning in the 1940s during the building boom that occurred after World War II.

Zoning

The majority of the neighborhood is zoned R-60 with the exception of a few isolated small commercial properties. There are two small neighborhood commercial centers, zoned MXC, within the planning area. One is on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and North Horners Lane. The other is on the corner of South Stonestreet Avenue and Reading Avenue.

The Plan
The East Rockville Neighborhood Plan was adopted by the Mayor and Council on March 8, 2004. A Neighborhood Plan Advisory Group, working with City staff, developed the new plan to replace the Croydon Park Neighborhood Plan, which dates from 1982.

The approved and adopted East Rockville Neighborhood Plan and related files can be downloaded in .pdf format, and can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 3.0 or higher.
