ROCKVILLE, Md., May 13, 2005—Beall Avenue in Rockville Town Center has been reopened after being closed since February for work related to construction of the Rockville Town Square 12.5-acre development. The road closure was necessary for installation of pipes for new water and sewer drainage for Rockville Town Square.
The section of Beall Avenue affected was west of Route 355 and east of North Washington Street.
The installation of infrastructure is one major step in the development of the new Rockville Town Square expected to open in fall 2006.
RD Rockville, LLC is the developer of the Rockville Town Square project that will cost more than $350 million. It will incorporate the new Rockville Regional Library and a public town plaza as part of a mix that also will include about 648 premiere residences; about 170,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space to be owned by Federal Realty Investment Trust; and three public and one private parking garage with about 1,900 spaces.
Construction progress on some structures is now readily evident above street level. The most prominent structure currently visible is the public parking garage that faces East Middle Lane.
