Rockville’s Largest Town Center Parking Garage Will be Open in Time for Hometown Holidays—Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 22, 2007 — The City of Rockville’s newest and largest Town Center parking garage, located on Hungerford Drive and Beall Avenue, will be open in time for the three-day Hometown Holidays event, Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28. There will be more than 620 new public parking spaces in the garage, bringing the total of available public parking spaces to approximately 1,000.

The new garage is located at Hungerford Drive (Route 355) and Beall Avenue, with an entrance from Hungerford Drive. An additional public garage located at North Washington Street between Beall Avenue and Middle Lane will also be available for parking.

Parking is available during Hometown Holidays in many places around Town Center. These include the parking garages at 51 Monroe Place, on Fleet Street behind the County Council Office Building, and the jury parking lot at the corner of Jefferson and Monroe streets. Parking also is available at Metro parking lots.

Hometown Holidays is a three-day annual event that brings tens of thousands of people to Rockville Town Center for free concerts, kids activities, the Taste of Rockville, ‘Ride and Stride for Rockville’ and much more. Known for its recent hit song, “Boston” the nationally known band “Augustana” will headline the entertainment on Saturday night. Sunday night, the Grammy Award winning “KC and The Sunshine Band” will entertain the crowd from the main stage.

The weekend festivities will culminate on Monday with the 63rd annual Rockville Memorial Day Parade – the largest Memorial Day parade in the area. Iraq veteran Captain Julius Pearl, speaking on behalf on the 352 nd Military Police Company of Rockville, will be Grand Marshal.
