City Services to be Temporarily Impacted By Scheduled PEPCO Power Interruption on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007

ROCKVILLE, Md., September 18, 2007 – All power at Rockville City Hall – located at 111 Maryland Avenue – will be temporarily shut down by PEPCO on Sunday, September 23, 2007 beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing intermittently throughout the day in order to allow the City to complete work in preparation of City Hall receiving its new emergency generator. The power shut down will leave the building without Internet or telephone capabilities for the time period.

Three other City buildings also will be temporarily without Internet or telephone service. Auxiliary cell phone numbers are provided below for use by patrons:

Other City services that will be temporarily impacted include:

Telephone lines, voice mail, e-mail, and information lines will also be impacted. However, phone services to the Public Works and Parks Maintenance Facility, Glenview Mansion at the Civic Center Park, the Croydon Creek Nature Center, F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, 20 Courthouse Square, and the RedGate Golf Course will not be affected.

Due to the power shut down, the City Police Department will operate its mobile communication command vehicle throughout the day to handle all routine and emergency calls for service. The number to reach the City Police is 240-314-8900.

All services are expected to be fully operational by Monday, September 24, 2007.
