Rockville Town Square Ice-Skating Rink Open
Residents and Visitors Welcomed to New Outdoor Venue 

Rockville, Md., December 23, 2008 - Rockville is now home to a fun and exciting winter activity for residents and visitors: ice-skating in the square. A new ice-skating rink, scheduled to open for business at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, has been constructed in Rockville Town Square between Maryland Avenue and Gibbs Street.
 
Designed to complement activities and events scheduled in the square throughout the coming winter months, ice-skating in the square offers residents and visitors a family-friendly entertainment option in the middle of Rockville's vibrant downtown.

The new rink welcomes ice-skaters of all ages with special holiday hours through Sunday, Jan. 4.

The rink will be open Monday through Friday, noon- 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. The rink will be open Wednesday, Dec. 24, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 25, noon-10 p.m.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 5, the regular operating hours will be Monday through Friday, 3-10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children. Skate rentals are $2. Tickets and skate rentals are available at the Skate Shack, located at 100 Gibbs Street, between Acqua Nails and Town Square Jewelers.

The new ice-skating rink, with a weather-resistant synthetic-ice surface, is scheduled to be open through March.
