Weather Conditions Cause Tuesday Cancellations in Rockville
Decisions for Wednesday Will be Determined Pending Changing Conditions
 
ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 27, 2009 - Due to the inclement weather, some City of Rockville facilities have closed and some programs are canceled. The information below details closures and cancellations as of 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.

• Rockville Regional Youth Orchestra concert scheduled for 7:30 tonight at F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre is canceled.
• All recreation class programs and sports programs have been canceled.
• Daycare programs in Montgomery County Public School are open from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
• The Lincoln Park Community Center and Twinbrook Community Recreation Center will close at 6 p.m.
• The Croydon Creek Nature Center is open as scheduled.
• The Rockville Municipal Swim Center is open; however, afternoon and evening classes are canceled and a decision regarding swim team practice will be made at 2 p.m.
• The Senior Center is open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. All classes and programs are canceled for the day.
• Glenview Mansion, including the art gallery, will close at 6 p.m.
• The Traffic and Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for 7:30 tonight at City Hall is canceled.

In addition, residents are reminded of the Snow Ordinance, which requires that snow must be removed from all sidewalks, steps, driveways, parking spaces and the paved right-of-way sidewalk immediately fronting or abutting a property. This includes access ramps and curb cuts designed for use by people with disabilities.

Snow and ice removal must occur within 24 hours if the snowfall is less than 3 inches and within 48 hours if it is more than 3 inches. Call 240-314-8330 for more information.
