Weather Conditions Limit City of Rockville Programs and Activities 
 
ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 28, 2009 - Due to the inclement weather, some City of Rockville programs have been canceled today. The information below details any closures and cancellations, as well as what facilities are open. 

• All recreation class programs, childcare enrichment programs, Kidz Club and youth sports programs have been canceled.
• The After School Lounge middle school program at Elwood Community Center is canceled.
• The Rockville Municipal Swim Center is open; however, morning and afternoon classes are canceled and a decision regarding swim team practice will be made at 2 p.m.
• The Senior Center is open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. All classes and programs are canceled for the day.
• Glenview Mansion, including the art gallery, is open.
• The Twinbrook Community Recreation Center and Lincoln Park Community Center are open as scheduled.
• The Croydon Creek Nature Center is open as scheduled.
• Recycling and refuse collection will take place as scheduled today. However, resident requests for blue bin delivery, as well as special collections for bulk refuse and large metal items will not take place. Residents should leave those items at the curb for collection on Thursday, Jan. 29.

A decision will be made at 3 p.m. on the following programs:

• The men's basketball program being held at Twinbrook Community Recreation Center.
• The Rockville Football League (RFL) annual meeting being held at the Social Hall at Rockville Civic Center Park.
• Evening classes at Rockville Municipal Swim Center.

In addition, residents are reminded of the Snow Ordinance, which requires that snow and ice must be removed from all sidewalks, steps, driveways, parking spaces and the paved right-of-way sidewalk immediately fronting or abutting a property. This includes access ramps and curb cuts designed for use by people with disabilities. 

Snow and ice removal must occur within 24 hours if the snowfall is less than 3 inches. Call 240-314-8330 for more information.
