Weather Conditions Limit City of Rockville Evening Activities 

ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 28, 2009 - Due to the inclement weather, some City of Rockville programs have been canceled this evening. The information below details the closures and cancellations, as well as what facilities are open.

• The Rockville Football League (RFL) annual meeting being held at the Social Hall at Rockville Civic Center Park has been canceled. It is rescheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Social Hall.
• All recreation class programs and youth sports programs are canceled.
• The Community Outreach Working Group for the Commission on the Environment meeting scheduled for tonight at City Hall has been canceled.
• The Human Rights Commission meeting scheduled for tonight at City Hall has been canceled.
• The Rockville Municipal Swim Center is open; however, evening classes are canceled and swim team members should call the swim center at 240-314-8750 for information about practice.
• The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre Box Office will close at 6 p.m.
• The Planning Commission will meet as scheduled at 7 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall.
• The Twinbrook Community Recreation Center and Lincoln Park Community Center are open as scheduled. The men's basketball program being held at Twinbrook Community Recreation Center tonight will be held as scheduled.
• Residents who requested blue recycling bin delivery, as well as special collections for bulk refuse and large metal items for today should leave those items at the curb for collection on Thursday, Jan. 29.

In addition, residents are reminded of the Snow Ordinance, which requires that snow must be removed from all sidewalks, steps, driveways, parking spaces and the paved right-of-way sidewalk immediately fronting or abutting a property. This includes access ramps and curb cuts designed for use by people with disabilities.
 
Snow and ice removal must occur within 24 hours if the snowfall is less than 3 inches. Call 240-314-8330 for more information.
