Rockville Launches New Zoning Application Process
Pre-Application Meeting Form Available
Rockville, Md., February 17, 2009 - Individuals and businesses interested in pursuing a development project under Rockville's new zoning ordinance may now begin the pre-application process. The City will begin accepting Pre-Application Meeting (PAM) forms along with the required submission packages for review at the pre-application meeting. However, development applications will not be accepted for filing until the ordinance is effective on March 16.
The PAM is required before the project plan/ project plan amendment (PJT), site plan/ site plan amendment (STP), and special exception (SPX) applications can be filed. The PAM outlines the development proposal and initiates a meeting with the City's Development Review Committee and a planning project manager. At that meeting the City will provide additional guidance on the required applications, permits and timelines.
The development moratorium that has been in effect since September 2007 will remain in place until the new ordinance and map go into effect on March 16. This moratorium limits the submittal of certain types of development applications that may be accepted for processing under the current zoning requirements.
The PAM form is available on the City's Web site at www.rockvillemd.gov/government/planning-zoning.
A full copy the zoning ordinance and map and a description of the revision process, is available at www.rockvillemd.gov/zoning.
