Rockville Mayor Named One of Maryland's Top 100 Women
Susan R. Hoffmann Honored for Her Leadership in State's Second Largest City

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 11, 2009 - City of Rockville Mayor Susan R. Hoffmann has been named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women for having an impact in the community through leadership and service.

Maryland's Top 100 Women awards have been given since 1996 and recognize women for their outstanding achievements professionally, in the community and as a mentor.

"I'm so proud to receive this award, especially to be in the same company as so many wonderful women in this state who have done so much for their communities," Hoffmann said.

Hoffmann, who has lived in Maryland since 1976, is the marketing and communications manager for the Silver Spring Regional Services Center, has mentored young adults and volunteered for numerous organizations, ranging from neighborhood civic associations to arts and education groups.

Hoffmann has served the City of Rockville since 1994 when she was named to the Planning Commission. Since then, she has served on the City Council for three terms and is currently serving her first term as mayor.

As mayor, Hoffmann has pushed for environmental excellence in Rockville by pushing for programs that will make Rockville more sustainable and environmentally sensitive.

"It's an honor to be recognized for doing the things I truly love," Hoffmann said. "Serving the City of Rockville for the past 16 months as mayor and serving as a councilmember for six years before that is simply an extension of the pride I have for this city."
