Rockville Crews Work to Repair Damaged Water Main Pipe

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 25, 2009 - City of Rockville Public Works Department crews are working to repair a water main pipe that was ruptured this evening on Wootton Parkway near the Rockshire Shopping Center.

Public Works crews expect to have water service restored to residents in the Rockshire neighborhood and to businesses in the Rockshire Shopping Center within several hours. Wootton Parkway will remain closed between Paulsboro Drive and Hurley Avenue during that time.

The 8-inch pipe was accidentally ruptured when a Pepco contractor was working in the area to replace an underground electric line. Workers were using a boring mechanism to create an opening in the ground when they struck the pipe.
