Rockville to Host Meeting with Representative Van Hollen
Federal Stimulus Funding for Municipalities to be Discussed
Rockville, Md., April 7, 2009 - The Rockville Mayor and Council will host an open meeting Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 111 Maryland Avenue. The meeting will feature a presentation on Federal stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The meeting will include Congressman Chris Van Hollen, the Mayor and Council and representatives from other Montgomery County municipalities.
Rockville is poised to receive a $1,309,500 grant of federal stimulus funds for a Water Treatment Plant Energy Conservation Improvements and Rehabilitation Project. The City may also receive additional funds for other projects.
The water treatment plant project would improve energy conservation and rehabilitate aging components at the City's water treatment plant, constructed in 1958. Rockville's water treatment plant is one piece of a comprehensive water distribution system that provides clean and safe drinking water to more than 45,000 residents.
The meeting will be televised live on Rockville Channel 11.
Additional information, including an agenda, is available on the City's Web site at www.rockvillemd.gov.
