Final Phases of Rockville's Recycling and Refuse Program Scheduled

ROCKVILLE, Md., April 14, 2009 - Rockville will implement the final three phases of its new once-per-week, semi-automated, curbside collection system before the end of the year. Approximately 3,500 homes in Phase 1 are already part of the new system and another 10,400 will transition to it during the coming months. Phase 2 of the program will begin the week of July 27, Phase 3 will begin the week of September 28 and Phase 4 will begin the week of December 7.

Residents can go to the recycling and refuse section of the City's Web site, www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-refuse, to determine which phase their home is located in and to find out their collection day. Because some larger communities are divided into separate phases, a detailed list of streets can also be found on the recycling and refuse section of the Web site.

All households included in Phase 2 will receive a mailing during the last week of April describing the new program and announcing each home's collection day. Households in phases 3 and 4 will receive the mailing closer to their program start date.

The following list details the neighborhoods included in each phase and the week the program will begin.
