Three Meetings Scheduled to Learn More on Rockville's Recycling and Refuse Program

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 4, 2009 - Rockville will host three meetings in May for residents to learn more about the City's once-per-week, semi-automated, curbside collection system. The final three phases of the new program will be implemented before the end of the year, with Phase 2 starting the week of July 27.

Meetings will be held to provide information on the new program and answer questions. Carts will be available to help residents determine what size of each is needed. Informational presentations will be made on the hour.

The following list outlines the meeting schedule:

May 9 (Saturday), 9 a.m.-noon
F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre Social Hall
Rockville Civic Center Park
603 W. Edmonston Drive

May 12 (Tuesday), 7-9 p.m.
King Farm Clubhouse
300 Saddle Ridge Circle

May 16 (Saturday), 9 a.m.-noon
City Hall
111 Maryland Ave.

Phase 3 of the program will start the week of September 28 and Phase 4 will start the week of December 7. Any resident may attend the May meetings; however, more meetings will be held prior to Phase 3 and Phase 4.

Residents can go to the recycling and refuse section of the City's Web site, www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-refuse, to determine which phase their home is located in and to find out their collection day. Because some larger communities are divided into separate phases, a detailed list of streets can also be found on the recycling and refuse section of the Web site.

Certain components of recycling and refuse collection, such as bulk item collection and the holiday schedule, will change. Information is also available at www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-refuse or by calling 240-314-8568.
