Rain Barrel Workshops Set for Three Dates
Help the Environment by Managing Rain Water at Your Home
Rockville, Md., July 7, 2009 - Learn about the Rockville Rainscapes Reward Program by participating in one of three free upcoming information and training sessions. Residents are eligible to receive up to $500 in rebates for doing their part to help manage residential storm water and protect the environment.
Many residents have already taken advantage of this environmentally friendly program and have installed their own rain barrels.
"Rain barrels are not only a good way to capture the run-off from your roof, but they provide a great source of free water to irrigate your lawn, garden and trees," said Heather Gewandter, Rockville Storm Water Manager. "Decreasing your lawn to make room for plants can help slow storm water runoff, decrease the need for fertilizer and watering, attract pollinators, restore native species and ultimately make your home more beautiful."
Three rain barrel installation workshops are scheduled this summer. Conservation landscaping information sessions will also be offered.
The three training sessions are as follows:
Call Audra Lew at 240-314-8877 or e-mail alew@rockvillemd.gov to reserve a spot in the training or for details. Session participants will have a chance to win a rain barrel.
