Rockville to Serve as Capital for a Day
Governor and Cabinet Members Conduct Business in City on Thursday, July 30

ROCKVILLE, Md., July 28, 2009-Rockville Mayor Susan R. Hoffmann and Council members welcome Gov. Martin O'Malley and state cabinet members to Rockville on Thursday, July 30. The City of Rockville will serve as Maryland state Capital for a Day.

Capital for a Day is a program the governor launched in 2007 that brings the state capital to cities, towns and communities throughout Maryland.

During the visit Thursday, the governor, cabinet secretaries, state and county elected officials, city staff, business and community leaders, and the Rockville Mayor and Council will participate in tours of the city, a business roundtable, briefings and meetings. The day will culminate with a cabinet meeting at 1:15 p.m. in Town Square. The cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday afternoon is open to the public.

"This is such an incredible opportunity for the city to showcase itself," said Rockville Mayor Susan R. Hoffmann. "We will be able to highlight the great things going on in Rockville and let the governor know how we are committed to supporting the state."
