Rockville to Participate in Bike to Work Day

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 10, 2010 - The City of Rockville will join thousands of area commuters for Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 21. The annual celebration promotes clean transportation and a fun, healthy alternative to driving. Last year, more than 8,000 cyclists registered for the event region-wide.

This year, Rockville will have two pit stops–one at Rockville Town Center, along E. Montgomery Avenue between Maryland Avenue and Monroe Street, and the second at the Fallsgrove Transit Center, near the intersection of Fallsgrove Drive and Oak Knoll Terrace. The pit stops will be open 7-9 a.m. for bike commuters to stop by for breakfast, coffee, prizes, a free T-shirt and to meet other area cyclists.

During the event, the City of Rockville will be raffling prizes every 15 minutes. The City will also recognize several of Rockville's most notable bike commuters.

If you would like to register for the event, assuring that a T-shirt will be waiting for you at the registered pit stop, go to Washington Area Bicyclist Association's website at www.waba.org/events/btwd/.
